Lake Country House Hotel

The Grass is Greener…

Northcote Manor has thoroughly welcomed the challenge of going green, as an 18th century Manor and former Monastery tackling damaging environmental issues is a way of paying our respects to former residents.

Visitors to the manor are unlikely to round the corner from the long winding wooded driveway to see a solar panelled ecohotel but nor will they see a glowing green radioactive hue surrounding the house.

We pledge to honour our building and grounds and keep our pond life healthy. We strive to keep our fruit orchards organic and our bird table full, our rubbish recycled and our indigenous flora & fauna intact. Never shall a guest be blinded by an over zealous light bulb, be smothered by a blanket of cigarette smoke or be inundated with unwanted and unsolicited paper trails.

The newest wing of the building which is currently under construction will sit sympathetically next to its long standing partner but will hide many more shiny new ways to conserve energy. The ‘new wing’ will provide Northcote Manor with the opportunity to be as green as possible in the hopes of narrowing the dichotomy between old and new.

Currently the hotel is proud to be using many energy saving techniques to make sure that our carbon footprint is as small as possible.  We use energy saving lightbulbs, we recycle plastics, bottles and glass and reuse all waste paper.  We actively look after our own wildlife in the grounds by having bird tables and fish in the pond.  We are also trying hard to eliminate our paper consumption by sending our newsletter online and by having downloadable wedding and business packs on this site.  If you would like more information about the hotel sign up to our newsletter opposite.
