Our Surroundings

The whole atmosphere at Northcote Manor is of timeless tranquility. Twenty acres of mature woodlands, lawns and gardens, including an outstanding view over the Taw River Valley, set the scene for healthy relaxation and gentle leisure.

Our Head grounds-man has worked hard to reinstate a beautiful Victorian Water Garden which lies at the bottom of the gently sloping walled garden and is backed by beautiful hills often dotted with sheep and lambs. The pond area is stunning and we have a spectacular family of Dragonflies who hover at the water's edge. The water garden is the perfect place to unwind with a refreshing drink on a long summer afternoon or enjoy the view from our landscaped sun terrace.

For the more active guest our grounds provide the ideal location for a gentle ramble through fruit orchards and secret pathways that lead to open lawns with magnificent views.

Hidden away in the Devon Hills Northcote Manor is close to Exmoor national park and Dartmoor national Park. The rugged and dramatic North Devon Coast is just thirty minutes away by car and there are many quaint Devonshire villages and towns to visit full of fabulous cafés, shops and places of interest. RHS Gardens, National Trust properties and the villages of Lynton & Lynmouth with their cliff railway are to be found close by.
