There’s so much to do – or not, as the case may be….

Just outside our door

With all the natural beauty surrounding Northcote Manor, many of our guests set the scene for healthy relaxation and gentle leisure, by making the most of our mature woodlands, lawns and gardens, and the outstanding view over the Taw River Valley.  There are further activities to be enjoyed by taking a gentle ramble through our ancient fruit orchards and harvesting the apples; following secret pathways that lead to open lawns with magnificent views.  We have a croquet lawn and hard tennis court, providing gentle exercise

Alternatively, you could sip a glass of champagne on our sun terrace in the walled garden or on chillier days, simply curl up in front of roaring log fires with a good book – oh, and a delicious cream tea, naturally!

On our doorstep

We may be tucked away in the Devon Hills, but Northcote Manor is conveniently close to lots of activities and pastimes.  These include:

  • The vast open spaces of both Exmoor and Dartmoor National Parks
  • Just 30 minutes’ drive away, there are stunning coastal walks, revealing the natural beauty of our rugged and dramatic North Devon coastline.  These little meanders will take you past quiet, sandy and pebbled beaches, which can be enjoyed from both an aesthetic and geological view point.
  • The lush green patchwork of our countryside; ‘stitched’ together with high hedgerows and seamed with streams and rivers which flow through quaint villages and towns like the historic town of Great Torrington just 15 minutes from Northcote Manor; most of which are full of stylish cafés, restaurants, shops and places of interest.
  • The Royal Horticultural Society Gardens (the closest being Rosemoor),
  • Dotted around Devon, there are many National Trust properties to visit, such as Arlington Court, just outside Barnstaple and only 25 minutes from the hotel.
