Fishing in Devon

The River Taw flows past the bottom of our driveway at Northcote Manor, so we can contact a Ghillie available to take you out for either a full or half day’s fly fishing.  Fishing days are suited to both beginners and the more experienced fishermen among you. Farther afield you can try your hand at trout fishing or sea fishing on the North Devon coast.

Blakewell Fisheries (Muddiford)
Games fly fishing – 8am- 5pm, For experienced Fishers.
Family Fishing – (Separate Pond)
Fun Day - £2.50 per rod. Catch as many trout as you like, pay £6.80 per kilo

Stafford Moor (Winkleigh)
Coarse Fishing – Dawn – Dusk, £10 adults £8 child
Specimen Angling (larger Fish) - £12 for 12 hours.
They have 7 lakes spread out across 36 acres.

Riding in Devon

Rolling Devon hills, gorgeous sandy beaches and green country lanes are all in plentiful supply in North Devon; making it one of the most wonderful places to enjoy horse-riding. Our local stables have many different horses, each with its own distinctive character; ready to trot away and show you around.

Newton Abbot Racecourse is also a favourite with some of our guests.  There are plenty of fixtures to enjoy, along with traditional ‘Race Day Hospitality’.  .

Cycling in Devon

View our picturesque North Devon countryside in an environmentally-friendly way.. Hire bikes to cycle along the famous Tarka Trail; which you can join at a number of places.  This managed, disused train line runs from Meeth to Barnstaple, and your journey will take you through canopy covered paths, along the Torridge River and past the estuary beach at Instow.  We can pack up a picnic for you.

  • Train tickets around £6.50 per person

We are lucky to have some of the most breathtaking coast line in the UK. Away from all the busy seaside resorts, Northcote is just 25 minutes away from Westward Ho!, Saunton Sands, Instow and a further 15 Minutes away from Woolacombe Bay and Croyde Bay.

Just 15 mins away in Chittlehampton, we'd be delighted to oranise this for you.  The £50 per person fee includes 50 clays, 50 cartridges, hire of gun & tuition.

Golf Hotel in Devon

We have 3 golf courses on our doorstep - so there's time to enjoy a hearty breakfast and a good ‘tee-off’ time.  Then  back in time for a well-deserved afternoon tea. Golf can be arranged at Libbaton, Chulmleigh and Saunton golf courses, and 30 minute drive from the coastal golf course at Westward Ho!; the oldest links course in the country.

We will happily arrange your tee-off time for you just let us know which course suits your needs.
